Potential Jewellery Scam20/06/2011 |
Police in Derbyshire are warning people about a potential jewellery scam after two people in Chesterfield and Derby were targeted on the same day.
The victims were approached by a woman offering her ‘gold’ jewellery. On both occasions the woman put a chain around the victim’s neck who said that they were not interested in the jewellery. When the woman was asked to remove the chain, she did but removing the victims valuable gold chains rather than her own. The first victim did not realise until the woman had left, and the second victim’s friend managed to go after the woman and get the chain back.
In both incidents the woman is described as olive skinned, in her 40s, around 5ft 4in tall, of a stocky build with black, wavy hair.
Please be aware of these two incidents and any information about similar incidents should be reported to Nottinghamshire Police on 0300 300 99 99 or in the event of an emergency for example where a crime is in progress using 999.
